I would like to preface this entry by saying...I do NOT think of myself as a "prideful" Texan. Meaning....I don't think that the state I call "mine" is better than "yours." I like to have fun with my state and argue when people stereo-type all Texans with the "my state is better than yours" title. When I am put on the defense in that situation I can throw some things out there. With that being said, I LOVE Texas and I DO show pride in my state, but I don't put it on a pedastool like other Texans do. So...this post is dedicated to Texas and it's greatness.
Ahh Dallas. My home. I LOVE Dallas. TEXAS is fantastic, BUT Dallas...is amazing. I can say that love Dallas because I have been to most of the other major cities in Dallas. I love the people in Dallas. Did you know that Dallas or Texas drivers in general are in the top 5 states of nicest drivers? It really is true! I can testify! :o) So...speaking of Dallas, let me explain some goodness that comes from this beloved city.
The DALLAS MAVERICKS basketball team. Yes, they are full of ups and downs, but who can hate against Dirk Nowitsky and Jason Terry and Josh Howard and Devin Harris and their coach, Avery Johnson? I LOVE the Mavericks. I would like to thank Jennifer Grant for introducing me to this wonderful team my freshman year of high school. The Mavericks are playing the Houston Rockets right this second! Another Texas team...but NOT the MAVS. :o)
The DALLAS COWBOYS. "America's Favorite Team!" It's true, that is their coined name. They're doing fairly well this season and it's about time!!! We haven't gone to the superbowl in FOREVER. It's OUR turn!! Tony Romo can take us there, I know it!!!! Go Cowboys! We spanked the Eagles last night! holla holla!!!
Okay, Back to Texas greatness. Have you ever experienced Blue Bell ice cream?? If you haven't been to Texas, chances are slim. It's only available here and it is FANTASTIC. That's all I have to say about that.
Let's not forget about Texas football in general. High school football, college football and pro football are the HEART of Texas. It's so fantastic. I LOVED high school football, and it didn't help that we had a great team all 4 years! I'm proud to announce that my brother was one of the receivers when his team won the 4A State Championship fall of 2005. WHAT A KID!
Let's not forget about our wonderful President, George W. Bush. He is such a great Christian man, and frankly, I don't care if you agree, but I love him. He is leading our country as good as he knows how to and is doing a wonderful job. GO BUSH!
One more picture, just for fun. :o) I am a sponsor of this slogan. Guys, all it is is our anti-litering slogan. haha. Don't Mess With Texas...hello!!!! Well, I hope you have enjoyed learning about Texas. You can't really take my word on it though, there's just a different feeling here that is hard to describe. I believe it comes from people who have pride in living in Texas. (not snobby pride, guys.) Shouldn't we all be greatful to live in America in general and love the state we are from? I firmly believe so.
Show some love to your state and prove it. haha. okay, you don't have to. But you can show me some love. :o) God Bless Texas.
